Facial Trauma

Expert Care for Facial Injuries

If an injury to the head, neck, face, or mouth occurs, our team is here for you. Dr. Seeger, Dr. Gleason, and Dr. Inverso are board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons who will always put your care, comfort, and safety first. Our surgeons can treat a range of facial injuries, from simple cuts to complex facial reconstructions.

Any life-threatening medical emergency requires hospital-based care. Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

If you or a loved one experiences a non-life-threatening facial trauma, contact our office for prompt treatment.

Types of Facial Injuries

There are different causes and levels of complexity to injuries in the head, neck, mouth, or face. These types of facial injuries include:

  • Lacerations (cuts) on the face or in the mouth
  • Avulsed (knocked-out) teeth
  • Fractured facial bones, including the nose, cheek, or eye socket
  • Fractured upper and/or lower jaws
  • Facial burns

Facial injuries can occur anywhere, at any time. Any injury to the face requires immediate attention from a trained professional, such as an oral surgeon.

Treating Facial Trauma

First, we will take 3D scans to evaluate the injury. These images help our surgeons to create a custom care plan to ensure an optimal outcome.

In the case of a soft tissue injury, we can treat it with sutures, which are placed from within the mouth or in a less noticeable area to reduce visible scarring. Bone injuries typically require surgery, and plates or screws are used to reposition and strengthen the face or jaw bones. We offer many different types of anesthesia to ensure your comfort during any surgical procedure.

At Westwood Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, our team understands that facial trauma can be an emotional experience. To help you feel at ease and comfortable throughout your oral surgery journey, we are here to answer any questions you have about your treatment.
